Thousands of various tourists from all over the world visit Masai Mara annually to watch the unique yearly wildebeest migration which plays host to the World Cup of wildlife greatest natural spectacle – the dramatic wildebeest great migration on earth between July and October from Serengeti, Tanzania into Masai Mara, Kenya.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya
Meet and greet services on arrival in the morning at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or pick up from your hotel at 0800hrs by our driver-guide. We depart from Nairobi in the morning for Lake Nakuru National Park. We drive through the Great Rift Valley viewing sceneries en route arriving Lake Nakuru National Park often referred to as the pink lake due to its enormous numbers of Flamingos. Lake Nakuru is a shallow, alkaline lake where both lesser and greater flamingos can be found in vast numbers, sometimes literally turning the water pink!
The birds throng on Lake Nakuru one of the Rift Valley soda lakes that comprises almost a third of the park area. More than 450 species of birds have been recorded here as well as a rich diversity of other wildlife. The park also offers sanctuary to huge numbers of native African animals including waterbuck, warthog, impala, buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, eland, endangered black rhino, white rhino, tree climbing lion and occasionally leopard. A large herd of hippos have a territory in the northern part of the lake making for interesting game viewing. These are just some of the animals visitors might see and the landscapes range from sweeping grasslands bordering the lake to rocky cliffs and woodland. Its acacia and euphorbia forests are havens for animals during the heat of the day, making Lake Nakuru an excellent wildlife-viewing destination while the hippo pool is a favorite spot for picnics. Lunch is served at the lodge followed by afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at either Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge, Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge or Lake Nakuru Lodge. Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner

We continue with our journey across acres of wheat and barley, before reaching our next game viewing destination in the world most famous Masai Mara which plays host to the world greatest natural spectacle, the greatest dramatic wildebeest migration on earth which happens from July through October every year.
We arrive at the lodge and have lunch at leisure before embarking on a thrilling evening game drive in one of the finest wildlife havens on earth. We then return back to the lodge where it is time for dinner. Dinner and Overnight at either Fairmont Mara Safari Club, Mara Serena Safari Lodge, Keekorok Lodge, Mara Simba Lodge or Masai Mara Sopa Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3 and 4: Masai Mara, Kenya We spend the whole day exploring Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives where we will have the opportunity of spotting the BIG FIVE including lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo. We will have an option of going out with picnic lunch boxes to spend the entire whole day in the park. We will also have the option visit to local Masai village at an extra cost or balloon ride at only $450 per person. Masai Mara is one of the best known and most popular reserves in Africa where wildebeest migration could be seen with roughly thousand of animals, at other times there are still hundreds. The plains are full of wildebeest, zebras, impalas, topis, giraffes, Thomson gazelles. Also regularly seen are leopard, lion, hyena, cheetah, jackal and bat-eared fox.
Black rhinos are a little shy and hard to spot but are often seen at a distance. Every July, August and September wildebeest travel from Tanzania Serengeti plains northwards to the Masai Mara and the Mara River is the final obstacle. The wildebeest remain in the Mara between October and November. Between December and January the wildebeest gradually begin their migration back towards Serengeti plains in Tanzania.
Over 450 species of bird life have been identified in the park among them 57 species of birds of prey, including vulture, marabou stork, and hornbill, crowned crane, ostrich, long-crested eagle, and African pygmy-falcon. These birds are prolific and come in every size and color including common but beautiful ones like the lilac breasted roller and plenty of other large species like eagles.

Day 1: Nairobi

On arrival at the airport, meet our experienced guide. As you are transferred to your hotel, the guide will give you an insight on the wonderful adventures ahead. Overnight at Nairobi Safari Club

Day 2 & 3: Masai Mara National Reserve

After a leisurely al fresco breakfast, start exploring the country as you travel to the extraordinary destination of the Masai Mara. Scenically, it epitomises the Africa of childhood imaginings: the lone Acacia tree against the cobalt sky, rolling plains that positively heave with life, the sluggish curves of the Mara River choc-a-bloc with hippo and crocs and the odd red “shuka” of a Masai herdsman who carry on their normal pace of life, largely oblivious of all the commotion around them. Spend the next two days on safari with all meals and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha

This morning depart for Lake Naivasha arriving for lunch at your lodge.

Take a boat ride at the crater lake and visit Crescent Island. There are plenty of hippos to be seen in their natural habitat and wild animals such as zebra, giraffe, antelope, wilder beast, water bucks and a variety of birds on the shore with the best view from the lake.

Day 5 & 6: Amboseli National Park

Your journey now takes you to Amboseli National Park located at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Stop en route at the Carnivore restaurant for lunch.

Arrive at Amboseli in the late afternoon where you will embark on a game viewing drive. On the second day you will have morning and afternoon game viewing drives at the park. During the heat of the day, relax at the lodge.

Day 7: Nairobi – Departure

Following an early breakfast, catch your last views of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you depart Amboseli. From here turn north across the beautiful and seemingly never ending Athi Plains, arriving in Kenya’s bustling capital city of Nairobi by mid-day. You will be transferred to the airport for your International flight (B)

Arrive back home with Memories of the Kenya Classic Safari that you will treasure forever!

INCLUDED

Bed and Breakfast in Nairobi and Full board accommodation while on safari, airstrip transfer where applicable, unlimited game drives, park & conservancy fees, game drives in safari minibus & services of a professional guide (Multilingual guides available on request).
